As a senior software engineer, you will play a vital role in keeping LLNL employees and our environment safe. You will be responsible for performing break/fix support of applications within TEIMS used to support operations and environmental decision making by ESH and ERD, such as environmental sample planning, chain of custody tracking, data management, data analysis, and data visualization. This position is in the Enterprise Application Services (EAS) Division within the Computing Directorate. This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization. You Will: Maintain existing web applications using modern technologies, languages, and frameworks, such as Perl, Python, Django, JavaScript, Oracle, and Docker. Responsible for managing development efforts through all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment of bug fixes within the Perl and Python codebases. Engage with environmental, safety and health subject matter experts to understand stakeholder needs and define software requirement specifications. Develop software tools to automate the processing, analysis, and archival of environmental, safety and health data. Manage work activities with business leads using tools such as Atlassian Jira and Confluence. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience. Significant experience developing software as part of a multi-disciplinary team incorporating the software development life cycle using methodologies such as Agile and/or Scrum. Advanced full-stack software development, including front-end web languages and frameworks (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, KendoUI, and Django) and back-end programming languages (e.g., Perl, Python and SQL). Significant experience interacting and working with relational database management systems such as Oracle. Significant experience proposing and implementing solutions to complex problems that may not be well defined. Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment including multi-disciplinary and multi-organization teams, and to interact with stakeholders on a variety of technical issues including mid-level management.
