At Howmet Aerospace, this position plays a key role in developing and maintaining CNC programs used to manufacture precision aerospace components-where accuracy, repeatability, and process control are critical. The Work You'll Be Doing In this role, you will: Create and verify CNC programs for 3-5 axis machining centers using 3D models and blueprints Develop and support touch probe programs for in-process inspection and verification Build and maintain machining process documentation, including tool lists and setup instructions Collaborate with machinists, engineering, and quality teams to ensure efficient production Support fixture design and cutting tool development Simulate and optimize programs to improve cycle times and reduce scrap Participate in cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives Document programming standards, best practices, and procedures Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment (5S/6S) Machines, Controls & Software You'll work with equipment and systems such as: Machines: 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining centers Controls: Siemens, Fanuc CAM Software: Siemens NX, GibbsCAM Simulation Software: Vericut Inspection Tools: CMM, standard precision measuring tools Materials You'll Work With Aluminum Aerospace alloys Titanium What We're Looking For Required: High school diploma or GED Trade certificate with 2+ years' experience OR 6+ years of relevant experience Experience with CNC milling, turning, or grinding Strong understanding of machining complex prismatic components Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Experience with setups, tooling, and machining processes Comfortable using measuring tools and performing process validation Basic proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills Preferred (Not Required): Experience with Siemens NX or GibbsCAM Experience with Vericut or similar simulation tools High-speed 5-axis machining experience (especially aluminum) Fixture design and cutting tool development experience Experience with touch probe programming Understanding of postprocessors across multiple machine platforms Aerospace or precision manufacturing experience Why Machinists Like Working Here Programmers and machinists choose Howmet Aerospace because: Work supports real aerospace and defense applications Clean, structured, process-driven manufacturing environment Advanced multi-axis machining and modern programming tools Competitive pay for skilled CNC programmers Strong collaboration between programming, engineering, and shop floor Long-term stability with a global aerospace leader Pay, Benefits & Schedule Pay Range: $37 - $48/hr (DOE) Benefits: Medical, dental, vision (Day 1) 401(k) with 4.2% match + 3% company contribution (7.2% total) 5% target performance bonus PTO + 10 paid holidays Paid parental leave (up to 3 weeks at 100%) Life insurance & Employee Assistance Program Schedule: Day shift (standard hours) Overtime: As needed Apply Interested CNC programmers can apply directly through hireCNC.
