Job Title: Systems Engineer Location: Portsmouth Naval Base. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role Salary: Up to £43,000 depending on skills and experience What you'll be doing: Applying Systems Thinking to complex system challenges Assisting Principal and Senior Engineers in providing stakeholder requirements elicitation, analysis and management to ensure systems engineering deliverables are developed to satisfy stakeholder needs Understanding and applying strategies around system development across a typical lifecycle, from requirement elicitation through to qualification, including integration, verification and validation activities Supporting identification of system emergent properties, trade-offs, optimisation, risk management and verification activities Liaising with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient engagement in support of system realisation Working with multiple Asset Management Service Hubs to tailor and deliver the Systems Engineering capabilities and services as required Utilising Model Based Systems Engineering Tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect) to capture system definition Your skills and experiences: Experience of V-model or the full product lifecycle Developing Systems Engineering experience and exposure to the ISO 15288 lifecycle Familiar with Model based Systems Engineering and Digital Enabling Technologies, including relevant toolsets and collaborative work environments An awareness of marine/ship systems would be desirable but not compulsory, for example- HVAC, Fuel Systems, Gas Turbine Services, Fresh Water Services, Sea Water Services, Black and Grey Water Systems, Bilge and Sullage Systems, Gas Systems, Intake and Exhaust Systems, Chilled Water Systems, Lub Oil and Hydraulics Be qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in Systems Engineering or a related discipline, being a member of a relevant professional body, and be working towards an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) level, with an ambition of obtaining professional registration in the future Benefits: As well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts - you may also be eligible for an annual incentive. The Systems Engineering team: Join the Asset Management Warship Technical Authority's high-performing Systems Engineering team, delivering whole-ship, systems, and equipment engineering support across the Naval enterprise. This role offers hands-on experience in requirements definition and management , system decomposition, and platform management systems. It further provides a broad exposure to Asset Management service hubs, including maintenance management , supply chain, data and digital, through the practical and tailored application of advanced systems engineering toolsets and principles . They are looking to hire a lead/principal developer focused on C# and .NET development and architecture. This will initially focus on Modular Monolith design, moving to Microservices architecture as/when required. Job Duties of the Principal Developer: Lead the design and migration from legacy systems (ASP and PHP) to modern, cloud first systems and applications. Design and implement software solutions using .NET and C#. Help to mentor junior engineers. Implement continuous improvement initiatives throughout the team.
