This Collector team is implementing the underlying medical back-office processes to automate and integrate the unique claims cycle requirements. The Team: The athenaCollector product is a critical part of the athenaOne platform, which helps our medical provider clients manage their business and revenue cycle (RCM), automating claims and billing for well over $200 billion in client revenue. Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer with a strong background in designing and developing Java-based microservices and some experience in building and deploying generative AI (GenAI) solutions is a desirable but not mandatory skill. The initiative this team is undertaking involves a combination of microservices and GenAI technologies, the candidate should be prepared to work across both areas, understanding that traditional software engineering responsibilities may comprise a significant portion of the workload. Key Responsibilities: Produce accurate, unambiguous technical design specifications with appropriate detail. Lead design and development on an agile team of Engineers, a Scrum Master, a Product Owner, and Experience Designer. Collaborate, mentor, and advise team members to promote productivity and effectiveness; share business and technical insights with the broader engineering and product organization. Develop knowledge to act as a domain expert. Take ownership of what the team builds and oversee efforts across the team to ensure completion. Cloud Deployment&Orchestration- Deploy AI-powered applications using AWS Lambda, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines. Design and develop Python based Agentic AI applications. Implement RAG-based retrieval and Agentic AI workflows. LLM Integration&Optimization- Integrate OpenAI, Bard, Claude, Azure OpenAI APIs. Optimize API calls using temperature, top-p, max tokens and reduce hallucinations using embedding-based retrieval (FAISS, Pinecone). Preferred Qualifications: 6+ years of overall experience with significant software engineering skills and computer science experience. Experience working in an Agile environment at an enterprise level. Hands-on experience in both Java and Python based technologies, relational databases. Knowledge of Unix/Linux, SQL, RESTful API, Spring Boot framework, Kubernetes, AWS and broad technologies; experience in developing decoupled applications is preferred. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. Nice to have -1 or more years of experience in designing and developing GenAI based enterprise-grade cloud solutions. Nice to have -Knowledge of scalable AI architectures and security best practices Nice to have -Knowledge of Perl is helpful. Expected Compensation $143,000 - $243,000 The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.
