Software Engineer
Lloyds Banking Group
Software Engineer London based Company: Lloyds Banking Group Salary & Benefits: £46,332 to £51,480 base salary, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays. We also offer flexible working hours, agile working practices and regular home working. Working for Lloyds is great! Who are Lloyds Banking Group? We're on a mission to build the bank of the future, and we need your help to do it. Continuing our extensive transformation programme, we're redefining what a bank is from the inside out. Our technology, our culture, and our mindset is changing to craft a true engineering-led organisation. Become part of our diverse team, and you'll experience a rare opportunity to make a difference to the lives of millions through our brands like Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Lloyds, and Scottish Widows (among others). Our flat teams will encourage and empower you to make decisions, build positive relationships, and deliver a meaningful difference to our customers, colleagues, and communities. Our mentors will nurture your talent, and encourage you to further develop yourself and your career. Where does the role sit within Lloyds Banking Group? Intelligent Automation (IA) builds enterprise solutions for Lloyds Banking Group. Within that our lab, Digital and Intelligent Products provides a number of services: Conversion of speech or voice to text and machine learning based comprehension. Securely sending images of identity documents such as passports. Customer document retrieval for GDPR. Identity verification via facial recognition. We've more than 50 people most of whom work within our four agile teams. Two improve our existing offerings, or sometimes build entirely new products. The third ensures the existing product set is operational, on-boards new value streams and increases reliability and supportability. The fourth comprises our model building data scientists. I hope you'll agree that there's a great opportunity here to turn a collection of parts into a well-functioning whole. We'd like this to be a lively environment to work in! What will I focus on? What follows is what you might find yourself doing on an average day in Intelligent Automation, but your experience will depend on the team's needs as well as your own aspirations. Our goal is to help you develop in a way that fulfils you, and create an environment where you can do what you enjoy. You'll work within a small software engineer team who operate within an Agile project environment, within one of our product labs. You'll work as a software engineer and your focus will depend upon your existing skill set when you join us. You would either, build microservices with Javascript and Node or build front end applications using React, lastly, you could build microservices using Java & Spring. You'll want to have one of these three skill sets but we are not expecting all three. You'll automate tests, builds, and deployments. You'll help contribute towards how we work by discovering new tools, methods, and approaches. What are we looking for from our applicants? We believe that people don't fit neatly into roles, and we value everyone's individual skills, experience, and knowledge - it's what makes you awesome! As a minimum to be seriously considered we would need to see demonstrated experience of one of the following skill sets, either; Having built microservices with Javascript and Node or Having built front end applications using React or Having built microservices using Java & Spring. We would also see this in combination with: Has worked previously within a team of software developers. A passion and interest for software engineering and desire to progress to be a senior engineer. If you have had any past exposure to Linux that would be great, but please apply if you don't! What support will I get and how will my career grow? As a multi-brand, multi-channel business, we have the scale and breadth to provide you with a diverse range of training and development opportunities, helping you achieve a rewarding and fulfilling career. Together we make it possible. Further Information: Interested but have a questions before you apply? Not sure if the role or culture at Lloyds is right for you? Feel free to reach out to me via Linked In using this link: or via internal e-mail, with any questions and I'll be happy to help.
