We are committed to being supportive in everything we do: In our work In our communications To our environment To each other To ourselves About the Job We are undergoing a transformation of our IT organisation to improve the quality and capacity of our services and are seeking a dedicated Assistant Director for Oversight to lead the governance of IT ensuring IT funds are spent appropriately, IT contracts are managed effectively, council data is protected and IT staff are developed. The Assistant Director for Oversight is part of a newly established leadership team within the Technology & Innovation Directorate at oneSource, covering both our partner councils. The role takes responsibility for building long-term, strategic relationships with senior stakeholders, acting as the senior point of contact for the development and enhancement of services, products, and systems. Working with the Chief Information Officer and other members of the oneSource IT leadership team, the role is influential in defining, implementing, and communicating the strategies and plans to support the strategic demands of both councils. Guiding the financial, commercial, and corporate aspects of service delivery, the role will take ownership of the quality standards of IT assets. Committed to the development and enhancement of the service, the role will also have the autonomy to explore opportunities to identify and implement new ways of working, whilst keeping abreast of innovative IT solutions. Overseeing core areas in relation to safety regulations, legislation, and data protection/GDPR, the role is crucial to ensuring that the IT service provision is fit for purpose, meeting the needs of residents, partners and colleagues. Ultimately this role will have oversight across the Technology & Innovation Directorate, providing expert advice to our partner councils, assessing the security, detection and reaction capabilities in place, ensuring we provide a robust IT service function. About You You will be a leader first and foremost, with the ability to lead coach, and develop teams to achieve a level of operational excellence. Confident in communicating with stakeholders at all levels, you will be experienced in driving the delivery of cultural change programmes, working with partners to embed new ways of working. You will have deep applied knowledge of financial and commercial management practices ideally in a local government environment. You will have a good knowledge of information and cybersecurity. This is a demanding role where your organisation and prioritisation skills will be pivotal to being successful. Adopting a collaborative approach you will be a competent negotiator, using your interpersonal skills to develop ongoing relationships with technology suppliers and partners.
