As an intergovernmental institution, EMBL has regulated data protection in EMBL's own Internal Policy, aligned with GDPR. The postholder will provide guidance on the application and interpretation of the Internal Policy, and be in charge of its successful implementation. The Data Protection Officer will be appointed by the Director General and will report to her.
The Data Protection Officer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
The Data Protection Officer will be bound by secrecy, acts functionally independently and shall neither seek nor accept instructions from anyone.
