We seek a highly motivated and experienced Cyber Security & Networks Manager to join our team. Stevenage Borough Council are a leading local authority in Cyber Security in the UK and pilot cyber security standards for The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC). This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of Cyber Security in the public sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cyber security principles and associated technology risk management. They will also have experience in managing and leading a team of IT professionals.
Accountable for Cyber security, you will identify and ensure the security of the council’s IT Applications and Digital Solutions. You will lead in evaluating new and existing projects, software and hardware products, and vendors, including examining vendor contracts and terms of service. You will support teams across the council to develop their understanding of security cyber risks. You will manage a small team of two Senior Network and Security Engineers
You will take the lead on cyber security and network for the Shared IT service, which supports over 1,000 users across Stevenage Borough Council and East Herts District Council and will put in place controls over security systems, such as firewalls, data protection controls, patching, encryption, vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.
You will be responsible for achieving compliance with Cyber Essentials Plus, Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) and Public Sector Network (PSN) and related government frameworks, including those of the National Cyber Security Centre, the Information Commissioners Office (ICO)

Senior/Lead Network Engineer Senior/Lead Network Engineer required by a small managed services provider based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The company deliver managed networking, compute, and storage solutions to a wide range of both Enterprise and Online clients. Due to planned growth the company are seeking an experienced Senior/Lead Network Engineer to take a leading role in the deployment, management and troubleshooting of both inhouse and client infrastructure. The position includes the management of (currently) 1 Network Engineer, and therefore experience leading/managing Network Engineers will be preferred. Examples of responsibilities: Manage and monitor all Client network environments Install, configure, test and maintain new platforms both internally and on behalf of clients Proactively ensure the highest levels of network and infrastructure availability React to network failures and troubleshoot issues through to resolution Participate in the design of new environments and general direction of network design and operation within the company and its clients Essential experience: Local Area Networks (LAN) - In-depth experience of Ethernet and its use both locally and over extended distance via pseudo wire/VPLS BGP - Experience of BGP both as an EGP to integrate with other Autonomous systems, and within an AS especially in the context of distributing routes within isolated VRF's Firewalls - strong understanding of the principals and operation of stateful Firewalls in general, and in particular the Cisco ASA range of devices HTTP Proxies - Appreciate of the use of proxies operating at layer 7 (HTTP/https) to manage traffic flows and isolate web/application Servers from malicious/disruptive requests Network support - knowledge and experience of protocols and services such as DNS/Radius/Syslog/TLS Security - Understanding the importance of security and the processes, architectures, and technical tools that are deployed to ensure security is maintained This is an exciting opportunity to take a lead role in a growing MSP. This role will be operating within a team of specialist Network / Security engineers who look after the internal and client networks. To be considered for this role you need to be able to demonstrate the ability of design, implementation and support of a network involving routing, switching and firewall technologies. In addition, you must be willing to mentor a small team of four Network Engineers. Ideally exposure at a management level would be ideal but technical experience would be the main goal.
