Linux Systems Administrator

This is a really broad role administering a range of internal systems and outward facing application and web platforms. The role will be a varied mix of support and project work, investigating and troubleshooting issues, creating work arounds and fixes and then working to help design and implement long term upgrades. As an out and out techie you'll get to play with a mix of open source systems and an opportunity to make ongoing improvements to the environment. The nature of the applications and information stored means that security is a very important aspect of the role both in terms of resilient and secure systems as well as information governance so a strong understanding of security implications is important too. As the IT estate is quite broad, ideal applicants should have experience in a similar sysadmin role with hands on practical experience of a wide range of the following - * Linux - CentOS & RedHat * Virtualisation - VMware, Citrix XenServer * Networking & connectivity - LAN / WAN, TCP/IP, iSCSI * Load Balancing * Security - firewalls, information governance, server hardening, certificates * Application & Web Server platforms - Java, Tomcat, Apache * Basic Scripting - Bash, Perl, Powershell If you match what my client is looking for, apply now!
