Main Duties

  • Performing software testing tasks to a high standard
  • Test Planning and Development
  • Configuration management
  • Defining and undertaking evaluation, prototyping, test and acceptance activities at unit, integration and system level
  • Owning the assigned programme of work and delivering to schedule, cost and quality, including through provision of progress reports and identification and active response to risks/issues
  • Support bid and tendering activities, including the production of task definitions, accurate estimates and programme schedules
  • Develop and maintain changes to existing Test suites
  • Developing tests and detailed test plans to gather evidence that demonstrates compliance with software requirements
  • Certification within the ISTQB at Expert/ Advanced level would be desirable
  • You will need to be very client focused and feel comfortable in understanding and acting on customer needs.

Skills and Experience


  • Educated to Degree or equivalent in a computer science or mathematics related discipline
  • Experience of C/C++ embedded software development
  • Testing at module and system level (creating test scripts and procedures)
  • Configuration management experience
  • Experience of analysing problems encountered during testing and proposing solutions
  • Self-motivation and an enthusiasm for problem solving
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of requirements management and acceptance
  • Well organised and a team player
  • Flexible approach and ability to work on multiple project simultaneously
  • Proactive communicator, comfortable dealing with clients face-to-face. Ability to explain design decisions in a non-technical manner with clarity and detail.
  • A caring, dedicated and 'can do' attitude


  • Certification within the ISTQB at Expert/Advance level
  • Experience of dealing with customers and staff
  • Experience of the design, development, test and qualification of products in the Medical environment
  • Exposure to Agile development
  • Experience using dynamic testing tools e.g. VECTORCAST/LDRA
  • Experience using static analysis tools e.g. QAC

The company does carry out work in the area of critical national infrastructure and so ideal candidates would either have a national security clearance or be eligible to be security cleared.
