The Team
This role will report to the IT Manager - Change within the IT Department. You will provide SQL development support to the IT Department in an efficient and professional manner and in accordance with the agreed procedures and service standards. Your role will contribute to the overall success of the IT Department in achieving its objectives as part of overall Company Strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
1 Working with the IT Application Development Manager, support the project related change and development of the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence suite, including but not limited to the activities described below.
2 Development
* Carry out development for major system enhancements and project work across the Business Intelligence suite; responsible for building, deploying, system testing and configuration changes.
* Ensure that best practice source code controls are implemented and adhered to.
* Develop small-scale bespoke technical solutions as part of project delivery (e.g. PowerShell scripts, SQL queries).
3 Database Administration
* Ensure that a reliable and efficient database estate is maintained throughout project delivery, performing operational database configuration and ensuring that data integrity and security standards are upheld.
* Troubleshoot database related issues raised in user acceptance testing.
* Ensure adequate database monitoring is in place (performance, capacity).
* Define database access permissions and privileges.
* Develop database documentation, including release procedures, data quality and security standards.
4 Follow best practice change management principles, ensuring development quality meets agreed release standards for production deployment.
5 Working closely with the IT Run Team to assist in the smooth transition from project/enhancement to 'business as usual' production support.
6 Maintain a rich and concise documentation library to facilitate knowledge sharing and retention within the team.
7 Actively contribute to/participate in the IT transformation programme to enable IT to support the agreed business goals.
