Software Asset Manager - 6 months initially - Oldham My Oldham based client is currently looking to recruit a Software Asset Manager for an initial 6 month contract. The Software Asset Manager is responsible for ensuring that the software estate is proactively managed and is compliant across all license types and patch management, through verification and proactive audit of software assets. They will ensure the software license entitlement position and deployment position are understood and managed and that cases of under-licensing and non-usage are identified. The post holder will ensure that licensing compliancy meets organisational and customer needs and sourced into the organisation in the most efficient and effective manner. The Software Asset Manager will manage and centralise the procurement of software purchasing and asset management. They will advise on the purchase and use of software, in each case, in order to minimise expenditure on software and risk of non-compliance with licenses, and to maximise return on investment in software. Duties include aiding the analysis, planning and implementation of software releases and patches, and version management. They will be responsible for managing, updating and enforcing the Software Asset and Configuration Management Policy. The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience; Solid experience of software asset management and software purchase. Experience of the software marketplace and licensing models (NHS related is preferable). Experience in licensing schemes, methods, and technologies including virtualisation and cloud delivery models. Experience of Microsoft corporate licensing solutions, including Enterprise Agreement, Enterprise Subscription Agreement, Cloud Solution Provider (CSP), MPSA, OEM, Open and Open Value. Experience handling software audits, dealing with auditors and software regulatory bodies. Demonstrable experience of working in Asset Management function / role. You will also have the following skills and experience; Provide specialist advice and lead on the software asset management approach for my client. Develop and communicate the software asset management policies and procedures. Provide regular insights and reporting to key stakeholders around license compliance and usage, advising the internal IT Management Team on strategies to minimise costs, meet licensing requirements and minimise risks. Develop and maintain working relationships across my client and its customer base to ensure that software use is reported and controlled. Develop, communicate and maintain the software procurement and management process together with procurement team. Regularly review software deployment and usage to identify and outline potential efficiencies and cost savings. Evaluate, select, implement and own appropriate IT software asset management tools on an ongoing basis. Input to and manage the response to software audits or license validation requests, in conjunction with internal teams, suppliers and internal/external auditors. Conduct software related supplier negotiations, and provide insight and detailed input on software entitlement and usage in order to inform software procurement activity and strategy. Work with the internal IT Change Management Team to further develop and operate software asset management governance processes. Develop and implement a software management system to ensure information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the team, Directorate and the wider NHS organisation. Assist with managing the teamâ€™s business support function, including developing and managing the teamâ€™s business plan, progress and reporting risk and issue management.
