We are seeking a Principal Database Architect (Engineer) whose main objective is to create and manage a complex and comprehensive electronic database. The post holder will be based at UCL Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering and will be expected to regularly visit the partner institutions (Barts, King’s and the Crick, and their respective clinical sites).
The database will be created by collating multi-parametric electronic data from specific cohorts of patients with cancer who have undergone radiotherapy, from several UK hospitals. Data will be accessed by multi-disciplinary researchers within the RadNet consortium to answer clinical research questions using developed analytical tools. The post holder will liaise with the RadNet community to manage an efficient and effective platform. This is an ambitious undertaking that requires a highly skilled individual with expertise, drive and vision to bring to fruition.
This position is initially funded till 31st October 2024.in the first instance. Candidates must have a Bachelors degree in a computational, mathematical, physical sciences or engineering subject or equivalent experience. A Masters in Data Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Health Informatics or Computing related field is desirable.
Advanced experience with data processing, management and statistical packages such as SQL, R, STATA, Python and BASH with the ability to elicit and validate requirements as well as scripting, debugging and improving scripts and experience of Mac / PC / Linux system administration. Starting immediately, a FinTech company is looking for an excellent Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join its Operations department for an established Blue Chip client base.
They operate in the Banking, PCI compliant environment, 24/7 transaction based business. They are looking for someone with a deep technical knowledge of Linux, Networking and Virtualization.
You will:
• Have always worked to automate processes.
• Be highly responsible.
• Have potentially led a small team.
• Have served as an SME in Linux/Virtualization/Networking (at least 2 of these).

This role will involve working within a new team of SQL Server, Oracle Database, Oracle E Business Suite and Middleware (Oracle SoA) technical professionals. While this role is to act primarily as a SQL Server DBA, you will also be required to support Oracle databases, roughly a 60 / 40 split weighted toward SQL Server.
Your day-to-day role is to work closely with IT services teams to resolve support incidents , provision new services and manage suppliers . You will be expected to work on new projects and provide advice on database related matters to the rest of the IT teams.
As you will be part of 24x7 rota you will be expected to participate in on-call services for one week in every four. For this, the company awards on-call bonus payments and additional holiday.
