Project Support Officer / PSO job in Cardiff - £23,000 plus benefits - Highly established organisation

An excellent job opportunity has arisen for a Project Support Officer to join one of the most established organisations in South Wales. This position is based within a forward-thinking organisation that offer a great working environment and scope for career progression.

The Project Support Officer (PSO) will support the delivery of the Programme, ensuring that all projects are delivered to governance and quality standards. You will join an existing team of PSO specialists who support the delivery of the programme of capital investment in IT.

You will work in close partnership with the Project Managers and PMO Team to facilitate the delivery of individual initiatives that contribute towards the overall running of the programme to time, quality and cost objectives. Working on a portfolio of over 20 projects, you will be required to support weekly and monthly governance processes for the portfolio.

The PSO will support all aspects of project delivery, ensuring that the lifecycle methodology and governance processes are adhered. You will track update any relevant project plans whilst also tracking programme expenditure and project process.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven experience of having worked in a PSO / Project Support Officer / Project Coordinator role
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills
  • Experience of having worked as a PSO on IT projects would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience of working within a project, or programme, environment or able to demonstrate the transferable skills from a similar role.
  • Experience of using MS PowerPoint or a similar tool
  • Experience of using Excel

The organisation is currently working in a PRINCE2 methodology although they are in the process of transitioning to an Agile methodology. Therefore, if you have experience of working within both PRINCE2 and Agile methodologies this would be a distinct advantage although it is not essential.
