Defensive Cyber Senior FPGA Firmware Engineer The Cross-Domain (XD) team deliver high performance appliances for the Defensive Cyber market. We develop from a blank sheet with security as a primary consideration, designing the whole appliance from high performance C++, embedded software, FPGA firmware (VHDL), custom PCBs, power distribution, and thermal management. All of which has to deliver a reliable, supportable, and maintainable capability for our customers. JOB ROLE A Senior Firmware Engineer within the XD team can expect to be involved in the full lifecycle of product development, from concept, design, through delivery, and into support. We predominately use Intel (previously Altera) FPGAs, with code developed using VHDL. As this is predominately an active hands-on role, solid experience with VHDL is a must, as is a familiarity with at least 1 modern FPGA tool chain (ideally Intel but could be Xilinx, Achronix, or similar). As with most current FPGA designs, we make significant use of the provided embedded blocks within those FPGAs, so any experience in integrating with these would be highly valuable. Defensive Cyber Senior FPGA Firmware Engineer The Cross-Domain (XD) team deliver high performance appliances for the Defensive Cyber market. We develop from a blank sheet with security as a primary consideration, designing the whole appliance from high performance C++, embedded software, FPGA firmware (VHDL), custom PCBs, power distribution, and thermal management. Opportunity for a DSP Software Engineer to join a music technology company and work on ground-breaking music technology products used by musicians, producers and DJs all over the world. There’s a team-based environment, relaxed atmosphere, a focus on innovation, and access to the latest music, acoustic and audio technology.
There are spaces at all levels in this specialist team, with progression and development plans for both junior and senior designers – if you’re just starting out in DSP it’s somewhere that you can learn from other developers, and if you’ve got a decent amount of experience under your belt it’s a place where you can use all your knowledge and experience to bring your own ideas to the table rather than being told “do it this way”.
It’s a mixed R&D team of creative Software Developers, Designers and DSP Engineers, working collaboratively to develop innovative audio and music products, so this role is suited to a DSP Engineer who is a team player and likes to develop ideas with other Engineers.
You’ll be responsible for designing and implementing audio DSP algorithms and getting involved with low level C++ development, so you need strong C++ skills, experience developing audio DSP algorithms, and VST or effect development experience as well. If you’ve got experience coding in SHARC DSP Assembler, you’ll jump right to the top of my list.
The role:
- Designing and implementing audio processing DSP algorithms
- Working across the full development cycle from conception to release
- Contributing to system design and low level C++ development
- Supporting debugging issues
The person:
- Skilled in C++
- Experience developing audio DSP algorithms
- VST or effect development using MATLAB
- Great communication skills and a team player
Even better if you also have experience of:
- Coding in SHARC DSP Assembler
- Developing effects and virtual instruments using MATLAB, VST or AU
- Interfacing with analogue and digital electronics, FPGAs or audio codecs
