Software Business Analyst required to join a software company based out of Aberdeen, with flexibility on location within Scotland. The company A growing software organisation, they are headquartered up in Aberdeen, however this role can be based anywhere across Scotland. The business creates a very specific type of software in the food and drink industry and are the market leader in their field. They currently have a team of 10 across the software function and are looking to add a Business Analyst as a brand-new hire and role, purely down to growth and need from the business. This will be a potentially international role, with occasional travel to clients across Scotland and overseas. The business has a global reach and has continued to gain recognition. In large, the role will involve travel to different parts of Scotland maybe twice a quarter, and overseas a couple of times a year. This ultimately means you can be based from anywhere in Scotland. On top of the salary, you can also expect to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a healthy overall benefits package. The role A newly created position, you will be a Business Analyst with a strong software background. This is a fairly typical Software BA role, working closely alongside a team of Software Developers, Testers and Product Owners. The role requires strong User Story and requirements gathering experience, as well as the ability to be customer facing. You will interact with external customers and gather requirements from them, passing these back to the development team. On top of this, you will need to have strong documentation knowledge and be comfortable working across both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Currently, both are used, project dependent, with the aim to become increasingly more Agile as a team moving forward. The business are currently in phase 1 of migrating their desktop application (product) into a web app, and you will play a key part in this. This is likely a multi-year project and you will be involved across the full lifecycle. As well as this, the plan is to develop a new product this year and you will take part in helping to define this. On top of the usual BA responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to do Business Analysis with customers involving scoping and looking at processes etc. There is plenty to learn in this role. With the office being based in Aberdeen, you will be expected to travel once a quarter for company townhalls in the office and in person. Other than this and the client travel, the rest of the role can be done remotely from home.
