IT Infrastructure Support Engineer This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving, profitable and exceptionally busy company. The role is offered as a permanent position, in the area of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. As an Infrastructure Support Engineer (equivalent to 3rd/4th line), you will be leading the enhancement and operational maintenance of our IT infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include cultivating, implementing, and optimising server environments, advanced network configuration and support, and providing leadership in ensuring the continuous availability of our critical business systems. In addition, you will play a crucial role in fortifying our cybersecurity posture. Skills: Proven experience in a senior infrastructure support role or similar. Proficient in Windows Server administration, networking, and other relevant technologies. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Precise data handling and experience in IT service management systems (e.g. CMDB, support tickets). Technologies: Microsoft Windows 10/11 and MacOS clients Microsoft Server 2019/2022 on VMWare ESX HPE networking and storage arrays Microsoft365 services Qualifications and Experience: Certifications such as MCSE, HPE Aruba, VMware VCP, or equivalent. Additional certifications based on specific technology stack (e.g., Azure Fundamentals). Cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Security+). Additional Capabilities: Cloud Technologies. Demonstrate proficiency in cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS. Virtualization Expertise. Extensive experience with VMware or other virtualization technologies. Command Line. Proficient with PowerShell commands and more generally CLIs, Telnet, SSH. Storage Solutions. Knowledge of advanced storage solutions and data management. Monitoring & Reporting. Implement monitoring solutions and generate reports on system performance. Disaster Recovery. Contribute to the development and execution of disaster recovery plans. Main Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities: 1. IT Infrastructure Management: Control specification, directly implement new solutions, and maintain robust server environments to meet the demands of our business operations. Implement and optimize server configurations for performance and scalability. 2. Network Optimisation: Configure and manage advanced network solutions, ensuring high availability and reliability. Perform in-depth troubleshooting and implement solutions to address complex network challenges. 3. Leadership in Trouble shooting: Provide leadership in troubleshooting complex technical issues, guiding junior team members when necessary. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network challenges to maintain operational efficiency. 4. Cybersecurity Responsibilities: Achieve and maintain relevant cybersecurity certifications and standards. Implement Zero Trust principles to enhance our overall security posture. Conduct regular penetration testing to identify and address security vulnerabilities. Develop and deliver tailored cybersecurity training for staff to enhance awareness and compliance. 5. Collaboration & Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for continuous infrastructure improvement. Contribute to long-term infrastructure planning and execution. 6. Compliance: Implement and enforce security measures to safeguard our IT infrastructure.
