Role Summary: Applied Intelligence Laboratories (AI Labs) is the research and technology arm of BAE Systems Digital Intelligence business. In partnership with the other businesses and educational establishments with whom we work, we innovate and develop to transform aspiration and vision into engineered reality. We provide research & development, consultancy, specialist manufacturing and technical services for Applied Intelligence and other BAE Systems businesses. Additionally, our expertise helps the UK MoD, US Department of Defense, universities and our UK industrial partners, and other leading innovation organisations to achieve their goals. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hard-working and professional engineer into the Antennas and Electromagnetics group at AI Labs based in Great Baddow, near Chelmsford, Essex. The Antenna and Electromagnetics group undertakes research and development across the EW spectrum from near and far-field ranges for antenna characterisation from a few hundred MHz to millimetre wave frequencies. Our research includes the in the following areas; Novel antenna concepts Installed antenna performance Low Observable (LO) antenna design, Design of microwave devices, Radar range equation based calculations for radar and communication system performance prediction. Evaluation of Electromagnetic Compatibility and Hazard (EMC/EMH) problems. Prediction and measurement of the Radar Cross Section of civil and military vehicles and structures is undertaken, particularly in relation to LO antenna design. The candidate does not need to have experience in all of these areas, but a good general understanding of the principles involved in undertaking work of this nature would be of benefit. The Engineer role will involve leading the delivery of innovative research projects to quality, time and budget while working with teams of scientific and engineering staff. Candidates will be expected to provide both technical input into programmes and support bidding activities and be willing to take an active role in finding and securing future work. For motivated candidates there will be future opportunities for project and people management. Job Purpose The People Information Analyst will be responsible for the extraction, transformation and presentation of our people-based data to support our work on people analytics and the performance of HR KPI's. The role will also provide technical support to colleagues delivering defined HR business processes and supporting all people-based systems. Service/Functional Accountabilities Becoming the owner of a number of people-based reports, using various systems (Oracle Discover, BI Publisher and Cornerstone on demand). Design, develop and deliver reports internally to the Organisation Development & People and Service Transformation (ODP&ST) function to ensure that performance can be continually reviewed across all elements of HR & Organisational Development. Support the creation of public facing information and responses such as freedom of information requests. Support colleagues across ODP and the wider organisation through the systems administration for recruitment, learning, performance management technology as well as the administration of any business-related processes to these areas. Deliver a great customer experience for colleagues across the council, managing ad-hoc and regular requests for data, insight and analytics through the effective use of reporting capability in new people-based systems such as creating, sharing and scheduling queries. Support People Operations in administration-based tasks (e.g. setting up assessments, supporting exec recruitment etc) to provide a professional service. Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework. Management Information Reporting Analyst
Location - Chelmsford, Essex
Fixed Term Contract - 3- 6 months

Purpose of the role:
Joining our on-site recruitment team as a Reporting/Management Information Analyst, you will work with your immediate colleagues and the wider business community of a large County Council client to understand and deliver management information, business intelligence & functional reports that meet our collective needs. You will need to track our performance against various service level agreements using key performance indicators as well as produce meaningful data to support our operational management and ongoing drive for business improvement.
Technically, you'll be using BOXI reporting (Business Objects), advanced Excel and SQL whilst interrogating Oracle Business Intelligence and an Applicant Tracking System (Taleo, Talentlink & Peoplefluent) to produce tailored management information reports on an ad hoc, weekly and monthly basis. Other business intelligence tools may also be used with training provided.
The business is going through significant transformational change and has a keen appetite for data and management/business information so there will be plenty of scope within this role to provide meaningful insight, ongoing trend analysis and recommendations designed to impact positively on our goals and objectives.
Role & responsibilities
* Directly work with the business (at all levels) to understand their data / business intelligence / reporting /MI requirements
* Support MI/BI activity across a range of activity, generating reports and information adhering to defined templates (including the Dashboard Model) & deadlines, and ensuring compliance with information security protocols.
* Support the early adoption of the new ATS platform through generation of rapid response reports as part of the early life support programme (i.e. payment errors & data support to analyse & resolve) and input into system configuration
* Provide data analysis and interpretation, insight and support (i.e. "...what does it mean?"), including contributing to the support & development of appropriate SLA's and KPI's.
* Maintain and provide MI/BI user support for the ATS (Talentlink/PeopleFluent), Oracle and other applications as required. At all times maximise the utilisation of all systems in order to automate & standardise MI/BI processes
* Assist with reviewing and documenting MI/BI processes undertaken, make recommendations for their development and advise on the availability of current reports that may satisfy business needs. This will include some maintenance of areas such as data field names, screen locations, security, type, building codes, staff names etc,
* Be competent in the use of BOXI Reporting (Business Objects Reporting), Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, Power View, Advanced Lookups etc), and SQL (for development of queries).
* Analyse and prioritise reporting requirements, estimating time to deliver required solution and communicate to the require parties
* Ensure quality of data provided, lead UAT and ensure the processes for new reports run correctly
* Ensure the business receive the required MI/BI in a timely and effective manner in line with Capita standard reporting cycles and that ad hoc reporting request are met positively
* Provide of MI/BI for new application implementation projects and contribute to ongoing business planning.
* Provide advice & system training to users as directed to improve user interface and experience.
* Implement and manage a data quality compliance methodology creating exception reporting against certain known areas of poor data
